Mbewe AMCOS (Agricultural and Marketing Cooperative Society) was founded in 2018 with 170 initial members contributing home-processed coffees. In 2024 they constructed a washing station, locally referred to as a Centralized Processing Unit (CPU), which accepts cherry from the nearby villages. In that first year, they processed 16 tons of coffee cherries from 166 farmers, and have plans to invest in more equipment and further increase output. After cherry is received at the Mbewe CPU, it is pulped and sorted, then fermented for 24-36 hours prior to washing. After washing, parchment is dried on raised beds for 7-14 days on average.

Excellent Coffee

Used to live in Chattanooga area and enjoyed going to Mayfly coffee to try all of the different varieties and roasts they offer. I moved to Detroit area and still order the coffee online when I can. Great place, great coffee, always freshly roasted, very reliable deliveries. Would recommend trying them all. Base camp is my favorite.

Hard to Find Better Coffee

I've never been disappointed by any Mayfly Coffee I've tried, but the Basecamp Tanzania might be the best they've roasted yet! Good strong flavor with nice fruity notes (like a Tanzania should be), but not too overpowering or bitter. Great way to start the day!
